NIGHTFALL

I’ve learned something from antique shops. Searching for a particular thing can be frustrating. Going in with an open mind is much better. I usually find something I like. Or should I say… something I like seems to find me?

Photography often works like that, for me. I was out late working on a landscape series and wasn’t having any luck. It was getting dark and I heard the sound of wings above my head. I was able to swing around and photograph a flock of pigeons going to roost for the night. This photo is a one-off in that it didn’t fit the theme of the series I was working on.

Is it even a landscape photograph? Maybe. But it doesn’t matter because the photo carries a feeling of the coming of the night in a very strong way and I’m fortunate to have captured the moment.
